the postal rates do not really change, but there is a new currency: 1 lats = 100 santīmu = 50 Latvian roubles. On 03-08-1922 the Latvian parliament settles for the name lats. On 02-11-1922 the first banknotes with denominations in latu are circulated. The first coins are brought into circulation on 05-03-1923. The first postcard in santīmi denomination (namely 4 santīmi) appears on 14-12-1922, the first postage stamps (of denominations 4 santīmi and 20 santīmu) on 31-01-1923
