Already in October 1944 the civilian population has been evacuated. After some peregrinations the inventory and part of the staff of Memel’s main post office arrive at Binz on the island of Rügen. In February 1945 a big part of the main post office’s archives is deleted there. Since then Klaipėda (Memel) belongs to Lithuania again |
